Album Art Redesign- Class Project
For this project I redesigned the album art for The Avett Brother's I and Love and You Album. The redesign is heavily inspired by the lyrics in the title song. I kept the design very vintage and homemade, because the band is a folk/indie band, and it fits with their image. The woman in the design is my grandmother at 16. The dimes over her eyes are inspired by the lyrics, "That woman she's got eyes that shine like a pair of stolen polished dimes." The song references Brooklyn, so an image of the Brooklyn bridge was given an aged treatment and used for the background. I ripped letters from magazines and taped them to a ripped piece of paper for the title of the album.
The design for the front album art was created using handmade elements. The stock image of the Brooklyn Bridge was given a treatment in Photoshop to appear like a well worn vintage photograph. The woman who appears in the design was actually a scanned vintage photograph of my grandmother. The dimes and letters for the title of the album were scanned in and placed into the design as well.
The handmade theme continues to the back of the album design.
